How to prepare a formal wear manufacturing brief
A practical quotation checklist for buyers sourcing private label blazers, suits, trousers and uniforms from Bangladesh.
By East West Industrial Park Ltd
Start with the garment, quantity and deadline
A useful quotation request describes what you want to make, how many pieces you need and where and when they must arrive. You can start a conversation without a finished tech pack, but identifying missing specifications early makes the next steps clearer.
For East West Industrial Park, specify whether your project concerns blazers, suits, waistcoats, overcoats, trousers or uniforms. Send the total quantity together with your proposed split by style and colour. A total of 2,000 pieces across ten styles is a different brief from 2,000 pieces of one style.
Include a specification checklist
Use the following checklist to organize the information you have. Mark undecided items as open questions rather than guessing.
- Style reference, front and back drawings, and the version of your tech pack.
- Measurement chart, size range, fit reference and permitted tolerances.
- Fabric composition, weight, colour references, lining and any performance requirements.
- Construction details, trims, buttons, zips and label placement.
- Quantity by style, colour and size, including any planned repeat orders.
- Packaging, hang tags, carton requirements and destination.
- Required delivery date, proposed shipping terms and sample approval process.
- Buyer compliance, testing and inspection requirements.
Make your sample feedback actionable
Identify the sample version and use a single consolidated comments document. Separate fit changes from fabric, construction and appearance changes. For each requested correction, include a measurement, marked photograph or clear reference so both teams can confirm what approval means.
Agree which approvals are needed before bulk production and who can authorize them. If the specification changes after a quotation, ask the merchandising team to confirm any effect on cost, minimum quantity and timing.
Compare quotations on the same basis
Check whether each quotation covers the same fabric, trims, packaging, testing, quantity split and delivery terms. Ask which costs are included, what remains subject to approval and how long the quotation is valid. A unit price alone does not describe the complete order.
Our enquiry form is a starting point for your brief. Mention that a tech pack or reference sample is available; the team can coordinate the appropriate way to share it. Final pricing and production commitments require a written quotation for the agreed specification.
